Architecture Scope
The scope of the Regional ITS Architecture can be described in terms of: 1) the size of the region and jurisdictions covered (geographic scope), 2) the planning or time horizon, and 3) the variety of transportation services that are covered. This scope is defined in the context of adjacent and overlapping Regional ITS Architectures.
Description
The Eastgate Regional ITS Architecture is a roadmap for transportation systems integration in the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments area, which consists of Mahoning and Trumbull Counties, over the next 15 years. The architecture was developed through a cooperative effort by the region's transportation agencies, covering all modes and all roads in the region. This architecture developed in 2021 is an update of the Youngstown–Warren Regional ITS Architecture, which was first completed in 2004 and previously updated in 2014.
This 2021 update of the Eastgate Regional ITS Architecture also includes a major connected vehicle / automated vehicle (CV/AV) update. The CV/AV update incorporates the DriveOhio CV/AV Initiatives as a project into the Eastgate Regional ITS Architecture. The DriveOhio CV/AV Initiates are detailed in the Statewide CV/AV Architecture Project within the architecture.
The purpose of this architecture is to document how the region envisions that each agency's systems will work together in the future and how sharing of information and resources will help provide a safer, more efficient, and more effective transportation system for travelers in the region.
Time Frame: 2021 – 2036
